ARC HIPPOTHERAPY
Safeguarding
This refers to the proactive approach to keeping children, young people and adults at risk, safe from harm.
All agencies working with children and young people have a ‘Duty of Care’ not only to protect those who use their services but also to promote their welfare by taking all reasonable steps to ensure risks of harm are minimised.
In the ARC hippotherapy, there is a safe recruitment policy for volunteers and staff, requiring two references and a mandatory disclosure check.
There is a designated Safeguarding officer to whom all safeguarding concerns are referred. All Safeguarding officers are required to attend a three yearly course for certification as are the coaches.
There is a specific written ‘code of conduct’, which all staff, volunteers, parents and carers are made aware of.
There is a clear and robust responding procedure for indicators or allegations of abuse or poor practices, with reporting procedure packs, with emergency support phone numbers, available at all ARC hippotherapy sessions.
