Equine Equipment List

Used for cleaning out the underside of the hoof. This must be done first, to check that the horse is sound before full groom. 

Gently used to brush out forelock, mane and tail.

Removes mud, dried sweat and undergrowth. Never use on clipped areas of horse. Work in circular motion.

Long, stiff bristles. Removes mud, dried sweat and undergrowth loosened by Curry Comb. Never use on face or clipped areas of horse. Use in short strokes, with flicking motion at end of stroke.

Short, softer bristles. Creates lovely sheen on the coat. Can be gently used on face or clipped areas. Use long, sweeping strokes.

Used to stop Christ Saddle from slipping or sliding back. Surcingle girth is thread through bottom loop and two top straps thread through the ‘d’ rings on either side of centre on the surcingle.

Clipped to the front of the Christ saddle or surcingle ‘d’ rings, either side of centre. Provides an ideal and fun way for riders to practice grip and sitting in balance.

Provides a safer and more comfortable bareback riding experience; allowing the rider to feel the warmth and movement of their pony.

Used to secure Christ Saddle and stop it from slipping or sliding back.

One fleece cover per child is placed over the Christ Saddle before their ride and changed after use. Protects the saddle and supports good hygiene, preventing cross-contamination between riders.

Cushions against impact as well as protecting against sores and chafing by increasing airflow. This pad is larger in size and is paired with the black numnah. Used primarily with JR.

Raises the rider to the appropriate height to allow them to safely mount their pony, with assistance of side helpers.

Used in conjunction with the Hydraulic Mounting Platform. One side-helper stands on this to assist the rider in mounting.

A pad of cushioned material placed under the fleece pad and secured with a surcingle. Absorbs the horse or pony’s sweat and cushions their back and the rider’s seat. This numnah is larger in size and is paired with the grey fleece pad. Used primarily with JR.

This numnah is smaller in size and is paired with the white fleece pad. Used with the ponies.

Attached to the bridle, gives the riders some contact with the horse, while learning to hold the reins correctly by being told the color to hold.

Prevents rider’s feet from sliding forward and encourages correct placement of the foot in the stirrup.

Fastens around the horse's girth, just behind the withers and shoulder area. Keeps the saddle pad and fleece in place. This surcingle is the longer of the two and is used with Ozzy2 & JR.

This surcingle is the shorter of the two and is primarily used with the ponies.

Four sets are placed equidistant down the centre-line of the arena, from A to C. The rider weaves through them, enabling work in balance and bending.
